Hilal Rangers Youth Football Club

Developing Young People Through Football, Friendship and Community

Hilal Rangers Youth Football Club is a community-based youth football club established in November 2011 to provide children and young people with opportunities to play football, develop their skills, build confidence and form positive friendships in a safe and supportive environment.

Over the years, the club has grown into a diverse and inclusive football community. We currently support around 55 children and young people aged 6 to 17, from a wide range of backgrounds, including Sudanese, British, Moroccan, Kurdish, Eritrean, Somali and Iraqi communities.

Our aim is not only to develop footballers, but also to help young people develop important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, communication, respect, leadership and confidence.

Our Football Programme

We currently provide regular football sessions every Saturday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at:

Westminster Academy Sports

Harrow Road

London

W2 5EZ

Our current youth groups are:

Under 13s

Under 18s

The club has also developed a strong history of competitive football. We previously operated three age groups – Under 11, Under 13 and Under 17 – and participated in the Camden and Islington League, with our Under 13 team competing for two seasons between 2012 and 2014.

The club was officially registered with the London Football Association (London FA) in July 2012.

Recognised Community Sports Club

Hilal Rangers Youth FC has held the Westminster Active Mark since 2013, demonstrating our long-term commitment to encouraging physical activity and providing opportunities for young people to participate in sport. We have continued to renew our Active Mark recognition every three years.

We are proud of our long-standing connection with Westminster and our contribution to increasing participation in sport among children, young people and families.

Our Coaches and Volunteers

Our football programme is supported by a dedicated team of volunteer coaches, who give their time and experience to help young people develop both on and off the pitch.

All of our coaches have appropriate DBS checks, helping us maintain a safe environment for children and young people.

We also have a Parents’ Committee, which provides valuable support to the club and helps strengthen communication between parents, coaches and the wider club community.

We greatly appreciate the commitment of our volunteers and parents, whose contribution is central to the continued success of Hilal Rangers Youth FC.

Football for Inclusion and Community

One of the strengths of Hilal Rangers Youth FC is the diversity of our players. Children and young people from different cultural and national backgrounds come together through football.

Football provides a common language that helps young people build friendships across communities, develop mutual respect and feel part of something positive.

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to participate in sport regardless of their background, culture or circumstances.

Community Sports Days

Hilal Rangers Youth FC has also organised and supported a number of community sports days in Westminster, working with the Sudanese and wider community.

These events have encouraged children, young people and families to become more physically active and enjoy sport together. Activities have included football and other fun sporting competitions, with small prizes and gifts for participants and winners.

These events are designed not only to promote physical activity but also to strengthen community relationships and create opportunities for families to spend positive time together.

Our Values

At Hilal Rangers Youth FC, we believe football can make a lasting difference in a young person’s life.

We promote:

Respect – Respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, parents and the wider community.

Teamwork – Learning how to work together and support one another.

Discipline – Developing commitment, responsibility and positive behaviour.

Confidence – Helping young people believe in themselves and their abilities.

Inclusion – Welcoming young people from different backgrounds and cultures.

Community – Using football to bring people and families together.

Looking to the Future

We want Hilal Rangers Youth FC to continue growing as a positive community football club and to create more opportunities for children and young people to participate in sport.

Our vision is to continue developing our youth teams, increase participation, strengthen our volunteer coaching team and create more opportunities for young people to develop their football abilities and wider life skills.

We also want to continue working with parents, community organisations and local partners to use sport as a way of improving young people’s health and wellbeing, reducing social isolation and strengthening our communities.

Football. Friendship. Confidence. Community.
